About
Rynos — credited as Ryan Potts — is a Canadian Director of Photography based in Guangzhou, with over twenty years of experience shooting commercial, brand-documentary, and narrative work across Asia, Europe, and North America.
His approach treats light as emotional architecture: tone, texture, and movement carry as much weight as dialogue. He's drawn to intimate scale, moody visuals, and the tension between naturalism and stylization — whether shooting a tabletop product film, a celebrity profile, a wellness campaign, or a 16mm narrative short.
Mandarin-speaking and embedded in South China's creative landscape, Rynos brings a global perspective grounded in local insight, with cross-cultural fluency that lets him navigate sensitive sets and deliver work that resonates across borders.
